I thought I'd head outside to show off one of our High Visibility ( Hi-Viz) jackets.

Kelly Wright on FOX News with FOX umbrella printed on inside

While FOX News reporter Kelly Wright was reporting on Whitney Houston, I couldn't help but notice, and appreciate, that FOX News had their logo printed on the INSIDE of the umbrella so it reads right when viewed on TV.  Of course, I would have suggested (and they may have done this) that they print the logo on one side on the outside, and then on the other side on the inside.  Thus, it would work for different situations.

Test Transfer Print on Shorts Ad-America

Someone donated 200 plus pairs of polyester athletic shorts to one of our non-profit clients.  Trouble is, the shorts already had an imprint on the front left leg.  Our customer wondered if we could print over the existing print.  We were afraid a screen print over an existing screen print, might show through.  Here, we did a test by applying a full-color tranfer over the existing print.  It seems to cover pretty good, don't you think?  You can't read the screen print underneath, and the heat and pressure of the transfer application flattened the underlying screen print.  Now, the next step is to wash test the shorts, just to be on the safe side.  After that, I think we'll be ...

Poster of Hoodie in Ad-America's Grand Rapids, MI office

This morning, I heard one of the Grand Rapids radio guys talking about heading to the airport.  No doubt, going on another cruise!  If you're one of those lucky folks heading out of town for a "Cruise" or Spring Break, don't forget to pack your favorite hoodie!  They make great cover ups at the beach, and easy to zip up when you go in to a restaurant and don't want to look to 'beachy'.  Companies like them too for employee uniforms.  Even executives can wear them on the weekends!  We can screen print your logo on the left chest and full back if you like.  Embroidery is also an option.  Hoodies come in different styles, colors, and fabric weights, which means, you'll probably find one that fits your budget for your crew!   (It's ...

Today a customer came in to place an order for a variety of projects, but one in particular..."Identification Stickers".  As it turns out, they had had a rather expensive piece of equipment stolen from one of their properties.  I'm talking $100,000 plus.  I won't go in to details, but we're looking at some pretty high end quipment here!  Police had no suspects, but a while later, in another county up north, a police raid on a meth lab turned up some rather unique equipment.  Who did it belong to?

Police noticed an imprinted pen with our client's name and phone number along with the equipment.  They called our customer asking if they were missing anything.  BINGO!  The ...

No.  And it won't happen today either.  But we're putting logos on sports bras, and I must say, they look very nice.  Often times we take photos of projects we're working on, or actually wear...i.e...."model" the garment we've just printed, and then photograph it as a record for the job file, or post on the web.  Not so much in this case.  One, the client wants to keep this project quiet.  Two, well...I just don't model bras. >wink<

Today we re-lamped the back shop with those fancy schmancy 'daylight bulbs'. Each bulb is 8' long and gives everything in the shop a more true to life color rendering.   Re-lamping is industry jargon for replacing all the bulbs at one time...Even the ones that have some life in them. The idea is, it's cheaper to do all of them at once, instead of one here, then another one in a month etc. All bulbs start dimming once they're used, even if you can't see it. Well, we had some you could definitely see. We also had a few lamps that needed a new ballast. Check. Replaced those ballasts as well.. The difference is amazing! Now, the future's so bright, I gotta wear shades! Can't wait to do the front shop!

Yes, today is bitter sweet. On the bright side we enjoyed printing some unique custom apparel items for a folk dancing group and finishing up a patch design for a Christian ministry. On a more somber note, we'll also be printing memorial t-shirts for family and friends of a United States Marine that was killed in a traffic accident in California. He would have been 34 today, and leaves behind a daughter. It's a little quiet in the shop today.

Award Plaque jade glass on black base on light table Ad-America

Some snow plow drivers are getting together for a little fun competition. And, they wanted a momento for one of the drivers.  This is a 6" x 8" jade glass we'll sand etch for the lucky driver.  It's beveled on all sides, resting in a black wooden base. Yes, the base does kind of look like asphalt.  You would almost think we planned it that way.  Now, we're getting ready to do some mock-ups on the glass.  Yes, we literally design the layout, print it out in color, then tape it to the back of the glass, photograph it, then email that photo to the client for approval.  It's funny how we can mimic the clear jade color of glass in the mock up.  We do all the graphics in white so when it's printed out, it looks very close to an etched ...
